[#VS2013] No more Team Foundation Service, now is ‘Visual Studio Online’ and we have prices (prepares the Amex!)

Finally they change the name !!! now TFS initials is only for “Team Foundation Server” and no more for “Team Foundation Service”. The new TFS on the Cloud is “Visual Studio Online“.

Another important stuff, we have prices and a pricing plan for the online service. A couple of points to keep in mind about this:

It is still free for up to 5 users
It is possible to add more users to instances of Visual Studio Online, associated with MSDN accounts
By default, you have 60 minutes of Build, and the extra costs $0.025 per minute
By default you have 15000 minutes of virtual users for load tests, and the extra is $0.001 for each additional minute
90 Days, you can “try” all this scheme without additional costs

As example to tell you my case, even though the first impulse to been to migrate all projects of Avanade to our company TFS at Avanade all employees have a MSDN subscription, so the only thing I have to do is validate that all equipment (elastic today we are 3 and in January we will be ~20); so everyone must access with their Visual Studio Online with your MSDN account.

That Yes, I will move all instances of Build to dedicated servers on machines of AZURE and with respect to load tests, I do numbers to see the final cost of the same.

Personally I think it’s a fairly coherent and also flexible schema. You can see here the comparison of all the options .

In the next few days I will write on the part giving more fear: associate accounts for the issue of the billing. Luckily, relies on Azure and as this model is quite mature, as I hope it works of pearls.
